Booking Bingo is a click away

With an exciting way of spreading the ‘Bin it in a Bingo bin’ message, Bingo the anti-litter mascot is the perfect visitor to inject some energy into the last term of the school year, Bingo and the team can now be requested to visit schools through the City’s online booking platform. 

The Urban Waste Management (UWM) Directorate's new mascot, Bingo, has already intrigued the young minds of learners at several schools in Cape Town. Now he and the team are ready to visit your school to raise awareness about the issue of littering, and help to build safer and cleaner communities.

A visit from Bingo can be arranged via the new online booking platform available through the City of Cape Town's website.

'Schools, there's no time to waste. Booking Bingo is only a click away.

'Children are our future, so raising awareness around these issues in ways that are innovative and relevant to them will be crucial in turning back the tide of littering and dumping. 

'Through this campaign, the UWM teams and Bingo will help motivate children to help keep spaces where they live, learn and play clean and safe, and to hold each other accountable for litter and dumping. All of us – residents, businesses and the City – have a role to play in keeping our communities clean.

'The hope is that inspiring children will also inspire their families, and wider communities to change the way they think about waste,' said Alderman Grant Twigg, Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management.

A visit from Bingo will include an educational talk on:

• Anti-littering;
• The impact of illegal dumping on the environment;
• The importance of reducing, reusing and recycling waste in and around the home; as well as
• Bingo performing interacting with learners through show and tell /drama skits and/or poems during the talks to teach learners some educational songs. Depending on the size and age of the group, Bingo may also play games and/or do activities with the students.
